Tropical Storm Karina Strengthens into Hurricane in the Pacific

Tropical storm Karina has strengthened into a hurricane over the Pacific Ocean, according to forecasters on Sunday. The National Hurricane Center reported that the storm is currently a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph. The storm is located approximately 880 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula and is moving west-northwest at a speed of 9 mph.
