Secretary Duffy Announces Upcoming Fraud Crackdown with DHS and DOJ

<p>Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy announced on Sunday that there will be an upcoming announcement regarding a fraud crackdown by the Trump administration. Duffy indicated in a post on X that the announcement will occur on Monday.</p><p>In his post, Duffy stated, "TOMORROW: UNPRECEDENTED FRAUD CRACKDOWN." He tagged several officials and agencies, including Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Justice, and the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, suggesting a coordinated effort among multiple departments to address fraud.</p><p>Details regarding the announcement, such as the timing, location, specific types of fraud to be discussed, or any potential arrests, were not disclosed by Duffy.</p><p>This announcement follows the Trump administration's broader initiatives to combat fraud, including the establishment of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud in March, aimed at coordinating efforts related to federal benefit programs.</p><p>The Department of Justice has also formed a National Fraud Enforcement Division to investigate and prosecute cases involving the theft or fraudulent misuse of taxpayer dollars.</p><p>Recently, Duffy’s Department of Transportation has collaborated with the Department of Homeland Security to address alleged fraud and safety violations within the commercial trucking industry. This includes issues related to improperly issued commercial driver’s licenses, fraudulent driving schools, and unvetted foreign drivers.</p><p>In July, the agencies announced a joint investigation into approximately 75 commercial driving schools suspected of fraud, including allegations of falsifying training records and improperly certifying drivers. The two departments have also conducted roadside enforcement operations targeting unqualified foreign commercial drivers.</p>
