Poland Launches Terror Investigation into Fire at Drone Factory

Poland has initiated a terror investigation into a fire that occurred at a factory supplying parts for drones intended for Ukraine. The Polish National Prosecution Office announced the investigation on Monday, citing suspicions of foreign intelligence service involvement. The statement indicated that the probe aims to investigate participation in activities of a foreign intelligence service against Poland and a terrorist offense related to the deliberate ignition of a fire at the WB Electronics factory in Skarzysko-Kamienna, which utilizes flammable materials. The fire broke out shortly after midnight, and firefighters took two hours to control it. The Internal Security Agency is collaborating with police on the investigation. No public details have been disclosed due to the confidential nature of the case. WB Electronics is among Poland's largest private defense firms, producing loitering munitions, drones, and military communication systems. The Ukrainian military employs the FlyEye and Warmate drones. Several European nations supporting Ukraine have reported incidents suspected to be sabotage operations attributed to Russia. In August, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk mentioned the detention of a Russian citizen allegedly recruited for an assassination plot in Warsaw. Additionally, an unexploded drone was found at a German airport earlier that month. Poland has been enhancing its security and military capabilities in response to concerns over potential Russian aggression.
