Man Arrested After Leading Police on Pursuit Through San Diego and onto Beach

<p>A man accused of reckless driving led police on a pursuit through San Diego that ended on a beach Sunday morning, where officers took him into custody.</p><p>The pursuit began around 7:30 a.m. when the San Diego Police Department received multiple reports of a man driving recklessly in the Pacific Beach area. Witnesses reported a man driving a tan or gold Nissan Frontier performing donuts in parking lots and nearly colliding with other vehicles, as well as possibly hitting curbs and a retaining wall.</p><p>Police arrived within minutes and attempted a traffic stop on the truck, but the driver fled, prompting a pursuit. Officers later terminated the chase due to the driver's increasing disregard for public safety.</p><p>After losing sight of the vehicle, police located the truck again, but the driver failed to yield, leading to another pursuit that was also terminated. The Nissan was subsequently classified as wanted in connection with felony evading.</p><p>Officers eventually spotted the truck driving slowly and waited for the department's Airborne Law Enforcement helicopter to track it. The helicopter followed the vehicle as it drove onto the beach and toward the water.</p><p>Video footage shows beachgoers observing as officers approached the pickup on the sand. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Griffin Charles Foy, exited the truck with his hands raised as officers moved in to detain him. A police K-9 was present but was not deployed during the arrest.</p><p>Police conducted a high-risk vehicle stop due to the nature of the alleged violations and Foy's disregard for public safety. He was taken into custody without incident.</p><p>Foy was booked into San Diego Central Jail on charges of felony evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety, obstructing or resisting a peace officer, and driving under the influence of drugs. No injuries were reported during the pursuit.</p>
