Poll Shows Decline in Confidence Among Trump Voters

According to a University of Massachusetts Amherst poll, only 58 percent of Trump’s voters now express being "very confident" in their decision, a decline from 74 percent in April 2025. This figure has decreased steadily over four consecutive surveys.</p><p>Despite the decline in confidence, the proportion of Trump voters who indicate they would change their vote has remained stable. Approximately 15 percent of Trump voters report they might or would vote differently or not vote at all if given another chance, according to Alexander Theodoridis, co-director of the UMass Poll.</p><p>The survey also reveals that the percentage of Trump voters expressing mixed feelings about their vote has increased from 4 percent in April 2025 to 9 percent currently. Those indicating they have some regrets and might choose differently have risen from 1 percent to 3 percent, while those who would prefer not to have voted increased from 1 percent to 6 percent.</p><p>Trump's approval rating among self-identified Republicans has decreased from 89 percent in April 2025 to 75 percent now, reflecting a 14-point drop. Overall, Trump's approval rating stands at 32 percent, with 64 percent disapproving, according to the poll conducted from August 21 to 26 among 1,000 respondents.</p><p>While there is a noted decline in confidence, a majority of Trump voters still affirm they are very confident in their choice. The trend, however, suggests a gradual erosion of support among his voter base.</p><p>The Daily Beast has reached out to the White House for comment.</p>
