Data from the Deportation Data Project indicates that ICE arrests surged to nearly 50,000 in July, with over half of those arrested lacking any criminal convictions or facing criminal charges. The news conference coincided with a separate press conference held by Governor Hochul and Mayor Mamdani, where they claimed that the Trump administration was withholding $87 million in counterterrorism funding from New York.
