Dylan Sprouse Discusses Early Acting Career and Its Impact

Dylan Sprouse, known for his role on the Disney Channel, compared his early acting career to child labor during an episode of the "Wildmen" podcast. He stated, "Some kids used to work in coal mines and guard the mine cart door when they were 15, we just sang and danced. It’s still child labor." Sprouse elaborated that working in television felt like a full-time office job, describing the experience as having a structured schedule similar to a day job. He expressed that completing a TV production often left him with a sense of emptiness, as his self-esteem became linked to his work. Sprouse mentioned ongoing challenges from that period in his life, referring to them as "bulls–t" and "mental hurdles." He discussed these experiences in relation to fellow guest Mark Indelicato, who also began acting at a young age. Indelicato agreed with Sprouse's sentiments, particularly regarding the connection between self-esteem and early work in the industry. Sprouse acknowledged the support he received from his twin brother, Cole, and other former child actors as they navigated their careers. Both brothers continue to act, with Cole currently starring in The CW’s "Riverdale." Dylan Sprouse is also expecting his first child with model Barbara Palvin.
