Piker further accused Sherrill of advancing Trump's immigration policies and criticized the treatment of journalists covering the protests, likening it to actions of an occupying force. He also expressed disapproval of Democratic lawmakers' involvement in immigration policy and emphasized the need for change within the political system.
Sherrill's office did not respond to a request for comment regarding Piker's statements.
