Transgender actor Elliot Page has reported difficulties in securing acting roles despite his recent success in major films, including The Odyssey.

Page, who began his career as Ellen Page, is known for roles such as Kitty Pryde in the X-Men franchise and appearances in films like Inception, Juno, and Hard Candy. He publicly came out as transgender in December 2020 and became the first openly transgender man to feature on the cover of Time magazine. Page has continued his acting career with roles in productions like The Umbrella Academy.

In a recent podcast appearance on On Film … With Kevin McCarthy, Page mentioned that despite his role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, he has not received many offers for new roles. McCarthy expressed surprise at this lack of opportunities.

Page humorously suggested that the limited offers might be due to being Canadian, while also hinting that it could be related to his identity as a transgender man. He stated, “I was seen in a certain way before, and it’s different now, so maybe there is something to reaching out to people and trying to create connections and projects that way. But it’s a little tricky for me to get cast right now. I think that’s for pretty obvious reasons.”

He compared his experience on The Odyssey to his previous work on Inception, describing the latter as uncomfortable in contrast to the positive experience he had on the set of The Odyssey. Page expressed gratitude for being part of the project, stating, “I’m grateful to Chris for having me be a part of this, and I certainly have been so lucky in my career and gotten to play some really fantastic parts.”
