Doug Ellin Responds to Debi Mazar's Claims of 'Toxic' Set on 'Entourage'

<p>Days after "Entourage" star Debi Mazar referred to the show's set as "toxic," creator Doug Ellin responded to her claims. Mazar, who played publicist Shauna Roberts on the HBO series, described the "testosterone-fueled environment" she experienced during an interview with The Sunday Times. She also alleged that show executives were critical of her weight after the birth of her second child.</p><p>On Tuesday, Ellin called Mazar's comments "disgusting" in a social media post. He stated, "My thoughts are this is disgusting. Never, ever did myself or anyone that matters care or discuss Debi Mazar’s body." He added, "I would one million percent embrace any woman who got pregnant. The only bodies on the show I ever commented on were Adrian’s (I wanted him more muscular) and @jerryferrara who I wanted fatter. I will forever feel bad about that because I didn’t realize the health implications at the time and now couldn't be happier for Jerry’s transformation."</p><p>In response to a user's sarcastic comment about the show being "toxic," Ellin wrote, "Fu. It wasn’t. And you can ask 99 percent of the women who were on it, who are still good friends to this day." He further stated, "There is no opinion. No one would have given a s--- about her weight. She was the publicist. She was not cast for her looks she was cast for her talent. Period."</p><p>A representative for Mazar did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In her interview with The Sunday Times, Mazar reflected on her experience, describing the first season as a "joy-fest" before noting a shift in atmosphere. She stated, "In the third season, the set was a testosterone-fueled environment. I’m tough, but it got toxic towards the end for me."</p><p>Mazar, 62, mentioned that after returning to work following the birth of her second daughter, she felt judged regarding her appearance. She said, "They didn’t like that I got fat, even though I got skinny again." Despite the challenges, she expressed gratitude for her time on the series, saying, "It was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t." "Entourage," which aired on HBO from 2004 to 2011, followed a rising actor navigating Hollywood with his childhood friends. Mazar reprised her role in the 2015 film based on the series.
