Federal Agencies Sued Over AI Safety Testing Framework Transparency

<p>Four federal agencies have been sued amid calls to release information about the framework used by the Trump administration to conduct safety reviews of frontier AI models prior to their release. The lawsuit was announced on Wednesday by a nonpartisan nonprofit organization called Protect Democracy.</p><p>Protect Democracy alleged that “almost no details” regarding the review process have been made available to the public or Congress. According to the organization, the specifics of the government’s review process, the companies involved in constructing the framework, and the legal authority of Trump officials to conduct these reviews remain unclear to all except a few vague “trusted partners.”</p><p>“Neither the identities of those entities nor the criteria by which they were selected have been made public,” Protect Democracy stated.</p>
