Illinois Toddler Dies, Mother Hospitalized in Domestic Incident

<p>A 2-year-old boy in Frankfort, Illinois, has died, and his mother is hospitalized following an incident classified as a "domestic-related homicide." Police were called to a residence shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of an unresponsive child. When officers arrived, CPR was in progress, and the boy was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to NBC Chicago.</p><p>The child's mother was found inside the home with non-life-threatening injuries, and authorities reported she was attempting self-harm. A preliminary investigation indicated the incident was a "domestic-related homicide," and an autopsy conducted on Wednesday determined the boy died in an "apparent homicide." The cause of death has not been disclosed, and the child has not been identified.</p><p>Authorities have not named a suspect or announced any charges. The Frankfort Police Department and the Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force are conducting an investigation. You never think it’s going to hit so close to home. Just more people I think are struggling than we realize, and so we just need to be there for one another." </p><p>Clancy is currently on trial for the murder of her children, aged 5, 3, and 8 months, and faces the possibility of life in prison without parole. Her defense claims she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible for her actions. As of Wednesday, the jury in Clancy's trial has been deadlocked after nearly 28 hours of deliberation, marking the second time in two days they have reported an inability to reach a unanimous verdict.</p>
