Oregon Teen Sentenced to 75 Days in Jail for Plotting to Attack ICE Agents

<p>An Oregon teenager, Rayden Tanner Coleman, 19, was sentenced on September 2, 2026, to three years of probation and 75 days in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of unlawfully manufacturing a destructive device. Coleman received credit for time already served, and Columbia County Circuit Court Judge Michael T. Clarke ordered him to continue mental health treatment, undergo evaluations, surrender his seized weapons, and pay $550 in fines and fees.</p><p>As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed 13 other charges, including first-degree attempted domestic terrorism and multiple counts related to the possession and manufacture of destructive devices. The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office did not respond to requests for clarification on the dismissal of the terrorism charges.</p><p>Authorities accused Coleman of planning to attack federal immigration officers and attempting to recruit others into a separatist movement. Reports indicate that he aimed to establish a separatist state called “Cascadia” and form a group named the “Cascadia Rangers.” Prosecutors alleged that Coleman intended to kill and behead ICE agents, bringing their severed heads to the Warm Springs Reservation as proof of his commitment to the cause.</p><p>Coleman was arrested in February after a traffic stop revealed materials in his vehicle connected to plans for manufacturing Molotov cocktails. He reportedly told investigators that he had been practicing throwing bottles filled with sand before converting them into incendiary devices. Coleman also mentioned purchasing an AR-15-style rifle, which was scheduled to arrive the day after his arrest, stating that he would have carried out his threats had he received it.</p><p>The Department of Homeland Security noted that Coleman had authored a manifesto detailing plans to attack the Portland ICE office with Molotov cocktails and a firearm. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the seriousness of the situation, highlighting the intent to kill ICE officers.</p><p>Prosecutors had previously indicated their intention to seek an enhanced sentence, although Coleman had no prior criminal convictions in Oregon. He admitted in his plea petition to unlawfully assembling, producing, or manufacturing two destructive devices.</p>
