NYPD Officer Arrested for Attempting to Solicit Undercover Officer Posing as Minor

Christopher Torres Garcia, an NYPD officer from the 72nd Precinct in Brooklyn, was arrested on September 2, 2026, after allegedly attempting to convince an undercover officer, who was posing as a 16-year-old girl, to engage in inappropriate behavior. According to police and court records, the interaction began on August 5 when Garcia met the undercover officer while on duty and exchanged contact information. On August 18, the two participated in a video call during which Garcia reportedly asked the decoy to expose herself after she mentioned taking a shower. Garcia was taken into custody around 10 a.m. on September 2 while off-duty in the Bronx. Following his arrest, he was suspended without pay by the NYPD. He was arraigned on September 3 in Brooklyn Criminal Court, facing charges of official misconduct, attempted dissemination of indecent materials to minors, and attempted endangering the welfare of a child. Garcia's attorney, Daniel Servino, did not provide comments to the media.
