Trump Commits to Campaigning for Republicans in 35 Races Ahead of Midterms

<p>WASHINGTON— President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will campaign for Republicans in 35 competitive races during the final month leading up to the midterm elections.</p><p>Trump made this commitment during a dinner in the White House Rose Garden attended by Republican lawmakers involved in competitive races, as well as several members of his cabinet, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.</p><p>Prior to the event, some lawmakers expressed hope that Trump would utilize his campaign funds, which exceed $403 million, to support their races. This dinner occurred one week before the Republican National Convention in Dallas.</p><p>“I’ll be with you 100%,” Trump stated. “We’re going to do something like I did for myself in the last presidential election. Four months out I said, ‘Ok. No days off.’ If I didn’t make four or five speeches a day, it was very bad.”</p><p>He elaborated on his previous campaign efforts, stating, “For four months, there will be no pleasure. I’m not going to go out and play golf, I’m not going to do anything. All I’m gonna do is work, work, work, and fight, fight, fight, and win, win, win.”</p><p>Trump recalled holding numerous rallies during that time, including five rallies in one day during the last two days of the campaign.</p><p>He indicated that he would focus on campaigning in 35 close races where Republican candidates are either tied, narrowly trailing, or holding small leads.</p><p>“It’s all about 35 races,” Trump said. “Some of you guys are leading by so much, please don’t make me go to your area… Please don’t ask me to come to your area and make a speech, right? But I’m going to go to every one of those 35 places, and we’re going to see if we can get everyone elected.”</p><p>Trump emphasized the importance of a strong campaign push in the final month, noting that voters might forget appearances that occur too far in advance. “You don’t want to go too much before that because people forget,” he remarked.</p><p>Additionally, Trump mentioned plans to hold telephone town halls to support candidates, stating that they “work amazingly.”</p><p>“I’m going to have to work,” he added. “I’m going to go up to Alaska for Dan Sullivan. Think of it—they have a man named Dan Sullivan running against him, the Democrats.”</p><p>Trump humorously suggested to Attorney General Todd Blanche that it should be illegal for another candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against the Republican senator, implying that the Democrats were attempting to siphon votes from the Republican candidate.</p><p>While Trump confirmed his support for congressional candidates, he clarified that he would not be campaigning for gubernatorial candidates. “I love you governors, but good luck,” he joked.</p><p>In conclusion, Trump encouraged Republicans by stating, “We’ll defeat the Democrat communists, and that’s what they are.”</p>
