Two Missing Teens Found Dead in Juneau, Alaska

Two teenagers, Leotis Phillips and Zoey Clark, both 16, were found dead in a wooded area near Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School in Juneau, Alaska, on Monday afternoon. The Juneau Police Department reported that the bodies were discovered just before 2:30 p.m. after the teens were reported missing earlier that day. Phillips was reported missing at 5:52 a.m. and Clark at 8:49 a.m. Both suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Police indicated that the couple was believed to have a firearm with them, but did not disclose the source of the weapon. The bodies have been sent to Anchorage for autopsy by the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office. A candlelight vigil was held at the school, where family and friends remembered the teens. Clark's cousin, Ariah Clark, stated, "The happiest I saw him was with her," and expressed belief that the couple was in pain. Clark's father, Zac Clark, emphasized the need for parents to love their children more. A GoFundMe page described Zoey as smart and kind-hearted, while Phillips' grandmother expressed her heartbreak over his death. The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, though loved ones have suggested it was a double suicide. Resources for mental health support were provided for those in crisis.
