Tennessee cheerleader arrested for domestic violence and violation of protective order

Kailyn Hasty, a freshman cheerleader at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), was arrested for domestic violence on August 31, 2026, following an alleged assault at an apartment complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Police reported that Hasty was the primary aggressor in the incident, but did not disclose details about the victim. After being released from jail, she was arrested again on September 3, 2026, for riding in a car with a driver who had a protective order against her. During a routine traffic stop, police discovered the protective order and subsequently arrested Hasty for violating it. She was booked and later released from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Hasty, who graduated from Tullahoma High School in the spring, has been dismissed from the cheerleading squad but remains enrolled at MTSU. Brooke Legens, the cheer team leader, stated that Hasty's actions do not reflect the university's values and emphasized that violence will not be tolerated within the Spirit Program.
