Long Island grandmother found murdered in her home

Rachel Frislid, a 62-year-old grandmother and business owner, was found murdered in her Sayville, Long Island home on Thursday evening, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. Authorities reported that she was discovered unconscious by a family member around 8:30 p.m. Homicide detectives stated that Frislid was a victim of violence but did not provide details on her injuries. Suffolk Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina confirmed that the assault occurred shortly before she was found. Neighbors described Frislid as a cherished member of the community, with Eileen Tyznar, president emeritus of the Sayville Chamber of Commerce, stating, "A heart of gold. Nicest woman you could have ever met." Frislid had been managing her family business, Academy Tent Rentals of Bohemia, after her husband's death several years ago. She was also involved with the St James Chamber of Commerce and volunteered at local organizations. Frislid had plans to retire soon and relocate to Tennessee to be closer to her daughter and grandchild. Police have initiated a murder investigation and emphasized that the attack appeared to be targeted, assuring residents that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
