Alec Bohm Settles Lawsuit Against Parents Over Financial Dispute

Alec Bohm, a player for the Philadelphia Phillies, has settled a lawsuit against his parents, Lisa and Daniel Bohm, ending a legal dispute that began months ago. The settlement was reached nearly six months after Bohm accused his parents of mismanaging millions of dollars he earned during his baseball career. Gary DeVito, Bohm's attorney, confirmed the settlement to the Philadelphia Inquirer, noting that the terms are confidential. An attorney for Daniel and Lisa Bohm also confirmed the settlement but did not provide further comments. Bohm had originally sought a judgment of at least $3 million, claiming his parents used funds for personal expenses and mismanaged his finances. The lawsuit alleged that his parents required a 10 percent ownership interest in two LLCs created to manage his earnings, while Bohm would remain the true owner. The lawsuit also claimed that his parents transferred millions from his personal accounts to accounts controlled by the LLCs and used funds from the Alec Bohm Foundation for personal expenses, which the parents denied. They argued that Bohm's lack of knowledge about his finances was due to his own negligence and that he had been content to let them manage his financial affairs. The dispute escalated in May when Bohm's parents transferred $528,618 from an LLC money-market account to their attorney's trust account, which Bohm claimed was to cover legal expenses. His parents contended that the funds were moved for safekeeping and to cover LLC-related expenses. Bohm has largely refrained from publicly discussing the matter. As of now, he is having a decent season, with a .700 OPS, 15 home runs, and 79 RBIs, despite a drop in performance compared to previous years.
