14-year-old boy shot in leg near Queens park; investigation ongoing

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg by an unidentified gunman near Rufus King Park in Queens on Sunday evening, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD). The incident occurred around 5 p.m. at the corner of 153rd Street and Jamaica Avenue, close to a children's playground. The shooter, described as wearing an all-black outfit, fled the scene on foot. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported the injured boy to Jamaica Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. Local resident Abdulahead Erragi stated he heard gunshots while at home and observed a group of teenagers leaving the park afterward. Another witness, Amber Logan, expressed concern about safety in the park following the incident, which features recreational facilities including a playground and soccer field. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and police have not made any arrests as the investigation continues.
