Barbara Eden, 95, provides update after canceling festival appearance due to medication side effects

<p>Barbara Eden, the 95-year-old actress known for her role in "I Dream of Jeannie," canceled her appearance at the Cinecon Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles due to what was initially described as a "sudden illness." The cancellation occurred shortly before the event was scheduled to begin on Saturday.</p><p>Festival organizers announced on Facebook, "We’re sorry to share that, due to a sudden illness, Barbara Eden will no longer be able to appear in person at Cinecon tonight." They expressed regret over her absence, stating, "Barbara is deeply regretful that she had to cancel at the last minute, as she had been very much looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating with us." They also thanked fans for their understanding and sent wishes for her recovery.</p><p>Eden later addressed her fans on Instagram, stating, "It’s okay everyone! I’m okay!" She clarified that she was not suffering from an illness but was experiencing side effects from a new medication prescribed by her doctor. "Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out," she explained.</p><p>She expressed her appreciation for the concern shown by her fans, saying, "What awful timing for this to happen! My deepest appreciation to everyone for the concern. This is just a speedbump! I expect to be out and about as soon as I’m given the go-ahead!"</p><p>The Cinecon Classic Film Festival, which celebrates vintage movies and stars from Hollywood’s Golden Age, marked its 62nd edition this year. Eden was scheduled to receive the Cinecon Legacy Award and was expected to introduce a screening of her 1961 film "All Hands on Deck." Her co-star Pat Boone accepted the award on her behalf.</p><p>Eden is recognized for her extensive career in film and television, including notable roles in films such as "Flaming Star" and "Harper Valley P.T.A.", as well as television shows like "Dallas" and "Sabrina the Teenage Witch." She received two Golden Globe nominations for her performance in "I Dream of Jeannie" and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1988.</p><p>Her last film role was in 2019's "My Adventures with Santa." Eden has expressed interest in continuing to act, stating she would consider roles if they are well written.</p>
