Miami steakhouse manager arrested after mother's death

<p>Stefano Eduardo Cremasco-Cicero, 36, a manager at a Miami steakhouse, was arrested after police found his mother stabbed to death in his apartment. Officers responded to a call early Friday morning and discovered Cremasco-Cicero covered in blood and holding a knife, according to an arrest report obtained by WPLG.</p><p>Cremasco-Cicero claimed he acted in self-defense, stating, "I was defending myself." He has been charged with second-degree murder with a weapon, as indicated by Miami-Dade County jail records.</p><p>Police arrived at the Brickell high-rise at approximately 4:47 a.m. and found Cremasco-Cicero in the lobby with blood on his hands, clothing, and shoes. He directed officers to his apartment, where they found his mother with multiple stab wounds. Miami Fire Rescue pronounced her dead shortly after 5 a.m.</p><p>Authorities have not publicly identified the woman or disclosed her age, but police reported she was visiting from Mexico and staying with her son.</p><p>The incident began when a food delivery driver encountered Cremasco-Cicero in the lobby and he asked her to call 911. Although he initially placed the call himself, he handed the phone to the driver to provide the dispatcher with building information. The driver observed blood on him while they waited for police and later handed the phone to responding officers.</p><p>Investigators reviewed surveillance video and building access records to reconstruct the events leading up to the police response. The footage showed Cremasco-Cicero and his mother returning to the building around 10:32 p.m. on Thursday and entering an elevator together.</p><p>At approximately 4:26 a.m., surveillance captured Cremasco-Cicero entering an elevator wearing clothing that appeared to be covered in blood and carrying a knife. He reportedly dropped the knife after exiting the elevator but picked it up again before taking another elevator upstairs.</p><p>Later, he was seen in a different shirt and left the building using his phone. He returned shortly after and sat in the lobby before flagging down the delivery driver.</p><p>Police noted that Cremasco-Cicero had small cuts on his hands and blood residue on his body and clothing. Crime scene investigators collected evidence, including several kitchen knives with blood, blood-spattered shirts, broken glass, and a broken wine bottle from the apartment.</p><p>Cremasco-Cicero’s wife informed detectives she was in France for a wedding during the incident. She stated that her husband and his mother had a strained relationship since his parents divorced and that he had been under stress while preparing to open a restaurant in Coconut Grove.</p><p>The Miami Herald identified Cremasco-Cicero as the U.S. operating manager of the high-end 1986 Steakhouse in Miami. The arrest report indicated that he is a Miami resident through an investor visa.</p><p>Cremasco-Cicero was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with no bond listed. He is also subject to an immigration hold. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed that he is an illegal immigrant and stated that ICE has lodged a detainer for him due to the homicide charge.</p><p>The spokesperson emphasized that the administration will uphold the rule of law regarding illegal immigration.
