Indiana Farm Plans to Continue Charlie Kirk Corn Maze Despite Backlash

<p>An Indiana family farm is facing backlash over a corn maze honoring Charlie Kirk and has stated it has no regrets about the tribute. Jeremy Goebel, a manager at Global Farms, mentioned that critics began leaving one-star reviews shortly after the maze design was unveiled.</p><p>Goebel explained that the farm intended to honor Kirk for his advocacy of open debate and free speech. "Absolutely, we would absolutely do it again," he said. He noted that the negative feedback seemed more directed at Kirk's views than at the farm itself.</p><p>The backlash reportedly started the same day the maze was announced, with some previous customers expressing their disapproval through one-star reviews. Goebel stated that they received a notification from Google regarding claims of deceptive practices, which temporarily closed their profile until they could appeal.</p><p>Goebel expressed confusion over the strong negative reactions, stating, "I just think it's very hard to wrap my mind around the fact that there's been so much hate over this, we were just trying to remember a man who lost his life promoting freedom of speech." He clarified that while not everyone may agree with Kirk, the intention was to honor someone who advocated for free speech.</p><p>Despite the backlash, Goebel mentioned that there has been positive feedback as well, with messages of support coming from various locations, including Cape Town, South Africa, and Australia. He emphasized that the maze was meant to commemorate Kirk, who lost his life.</p><p>Goebel concluded by stating that the country would benefit from more open dialogue and listening to differing perspectives.
