Indiana College Basketball Player Jordan Scott Dies in Car Crash

Jordan Scott, a sophomore basketball player at the University of Evansville, died in a car crash on Sunday night, September 8, 2026. The accident occurred at approximately 12:42 a.m. on State Road 62, about 20 miles from the university's campus, according to the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office. Scott was driving alone after dropping off a friend when her vehicle crashed into a utility pole. Witnesses reported that her car left the road on a sharp curve, struck the pole, and came to rest on its side in a tree line. Authorities noted that the vehicle sustained severe damage, and Scott was pronounced dead at the scene. Police suspect that speed may have played a role in the accident, and it was reported that her car went airborne before impact. The University of Evansville expressed its condolences on social media, describing Scott as a beloved member of the community and a member of the Purple Aces women's basketball program. Scott's younger sister, Jayden, is also a freshman on the team. The university is providing counseling and grief support services to students and staff. Scott, a native of Newburgh, Indiana, previously played at Wabash Valley College before transferring to Evansville. She was recognized as a two-time All-SIAC first-team selection and had a successful high school basketball career.
