Elon Musk's Ex-Girlfriend Raises Concerns Over His Influence and Statements

Ashley St Clair, the mother of one of Elon Musk's 14 children, expressed concerns about Musk's influence during the Venice film premiere of Alex Gibney's documentary 'Musk.' St Clair stated that Musk had texted her about needing 'a legion of children before the civil war.' She warned that Musk is causing 'deliberate division' through his social media platform X, which could have catastrophic consequences unless regulated. St Clair mentioned that Musk's team had offered her a $40 million lump-sum payment and a monthly stipend of $100,000 in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement, but the offer was withdrawn after she refused to sign. During the premiere, she was asked whether Musk was fearful of a civil war or actively trying to incite one, to which she responded that his actions on X cannot be ignored as they are creating real-world effects. She also expressed regret over her past political activism as a Trump supporter. Since acquiring Twitter in 2022, Musk has used the platform to amplify his political views, including celebrating the success of Germany's far-right Alternative für Deutschland party in recent elections. Gibney, the documentary's filmmaker, suggested that Musk's concerns about civilizational collapse may stem from his traumatic childhood in South Africa. He characterized Musk's story as one of a 'confidence man' whose wealth and power derive from inflating stock values.
