Lindsay Clancy jurors discuss reasonable doubt and mistrial outcome

<p>Three jurors from the Lindsay Clancy murder trial have spoken publicly for the first time following the mistrial, indicating that one juror's position prevented a unanimous verdict.</p><p>The jurors, including the foreperson, reported that one juror acknowledged having reasonable doubt but still did not agree to a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict, as stated in interviews with NBC10 Boston.</p><p>The mistrial was declared after several days of deliberation in the case against Clancy, who is accused of killing her three young children in January 2023.</p><p>Clancy admitted to the killings but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, arguing that she was suffering from severe mental illness at the time. Prosecutors contended that she was criminally responsible for the deaths.</p><p>The foreperson mentioned that upon hearing the juror express reasonable doubt, she began filling out the forms for a verdict but was informed by the juror that he would not agree to a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict.</p><p>Additionally, the foreperson wrote a note to the judge expressing concerns about the juror's reasonable doubt and his refusal to agree to a verdict. The jurors expressed frustration with the holdout, claiming he did not consider the perspectives of the other jurors.</p><p>NBC10 Boston reported that attempts to contact the juror identified as the holdout were unsuccessful.</p><p>A judge declared a mistrial last week after the jury informed the court that they were deadlocked after several days of deliberation.</p><p>It is currently unclear whether prosecutors will seek to retry the case.</p>
