Edgerrin James publicly requests support for son Jizzle amid substance abuse issues

<p>Pro Football Hall of Famer Edgerrin James made a public appeal on social media for his son, Jizzle James, a former basketball player at Charlotte, who is reportedly facing a substance abuse issue. James did not provide specific details about the situation but requested that anyone who encounters his 21-year-old son offer him a hug and refrain from giving him money or valuables.</p><p>In an Instagram Story post, James stated, "Jizzle is dealing with substance abuse and is NOT in the right state of mind right now." He emphasized the importance of showing love and support without providing material assistance, saying, "You’re not helping him by feeding the problem. He wants/needs for NOTHING. Give him a hug. Give him encouragement. Give him love. THAT’S IT. Be patient with him. We’re fighting for him, not against him."</p><p>Jizzle James had a brief tenure as a college basketball player at Charlotte after transferring from Cincinnati, where he faced challenges during his final season. He was dismissed from the Cincinnati program last summer but was reinstated midway through the season, participating in 23 games and averaging 10.9 points and 2.1 assists per game. His average points per game during his time at Cincinnati was 10.8.</p><p>Following his departure from Charlotte, a spokesperson cited personal issues as the reason for his exit from the program. Jizzle James had also hinted at a potential return to Cincinnati but received a cease-and-desist letter from the university regarding the use of its name and likeness in promotional materials.</p><p>In response to the cease-and-desist letter, Jizzle James stated, "I have my own merch I made. I don’t need y’all jerseys."</p>
