Nick Bosa Offers Support to Injured Teammate Alfred Collins

49ers defensive tackle Alfred Collins is facing a significant challenge in his second NFL season after suffering a torn patellar, which will require him to spend the year rehabilitating. Collins, who played in 16 games during his rookie season, is now confronted with the reality of missing an entire season due to this knee injury. Teammate Nick Bosa, who has experienced multiple ACL tears in his career, shared his perspective on the situation while speaking to the media in Australia ahead of the Niners' Week 1 game against the Rams. Bosa emphasized the importance of self-motivation during the recovery process, stating, "You can have guys tell you ‘keep your head up’ as much as you want, but they’re not gonna be there. When you go under and get your surgery done, or the nine to 10 months to a year where you’re grinding away from the team by yourself to get back." He added that while support from others is valuable, Collins must focus on his own journey and recovery, noting, "there is a light at the end of the tunnel." As Collins begins his rehabilitation, Bosa is concluding his own recovery from a torn ACL sustained during a Week 3 game against the Cardinals last season. This marks the second time Bosa has torn his ACL in the same knee, having previously suffered a partial tear during his senior year of high school. Bosa, who had a successful college career at Ohio State and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, advised Collins to approach his recovery by taking it "one day at a time."
