One Teen Rescued, Two Bodies Recovered After Boat Capsizes Off Alaska

<p>The United States Coast Guard (USCG) reported on Tuesday that a 15-year-old boater was rescued alive after three individuals went missing earlier this week.</p><p>Rescue personnel found the teenager "clinging to the capsized vessel" on Monday off the coast of Alaska. Officials stated that crews discovered him in a medical emergency.</p><p>The "survivor was rescued from the overturned skiff experiencing symptoms of hypothermia," according to officials.</p><p>The two other mariners were found deceased after the 18-foot fishing vessel they were aboard overturned approximately 4 miles east of St. Lawrence Island, as reported by authorities.</p><p>The Coast Guard initiated a search mission early Monday after Alaska State Troopers informed them of an overdue boat on Sunday evening. The vessel was expected to return on Sunday at 3 a.m.</p><p>Officials indicated that crews were unable to launch a rescue mission until Monday morning due to adverse weather conditions and poor visibility.</p><p>After deploying an aircrew, personnel spotted the survivor and sent a raft with survival equipment.</p><p>A good Samaritan vessel also assisted, rescuing the 15-year-old survivor and recovering the bodies of the two deceased mariners from the water.</p><p>Both mariners and the teen survivor were subsequently transported to Nome, Alaska, according to officials.</p>
