Trump Addresses AI Development Concerns

US President Donald Trump has characterized concerns regarding the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) as a "sick conspiracy," suggesting that such efforts primarily benefit China. His remarks came after calls from tech leaders, including Dario Amodei of Anthropic and Sam Altman of OpenAI, for increased governmental regulation of AI due to potential risks associated with its rapid advancement. Trump stated on his Truth Social account, "The only control or ‘guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!" He claimed that his administration has already taken steps to prevent Anthropic from engaging in harmful activities with AI technology. Previously, the Pentagon had identified Anthropic's models as a security risk and imposed a temporary ban on one of its advanced models. Amodei expressed concerns over uncontrolled global AI development, warning that AI-led agents could potentially take over the internet within six to twelve months. In response to these developments, AI-related stocks experienced declines, including a 3.5% drop for Nvidia and a 1.7% drop for SpaceX.
