Michael Mayer, tight end for the Las Vegas Raiders, has signed a three-year contract extension worth up to $45 million, with $30 million guaranteed. This decision comes after a season-opening victory over the Miami Dolphins, which Mayer views as a sign of progress for the team. Mayer expressed his commitment to the Raiders, citing the support he received during difficult personal times, including a leave of absence in 2024. He stated, "This is the team that drafted me, this is home. Obviously, it’s been some rough years. It’s a new regime, it’s a new team, and we feel really good about what we’re doing here. I want to be a part of that." In the recent game, Mayer tied for the team lead with six receptions, contributing to a total of 130 rushing yards. Mayer acknowledged the limitations of the current offense but remains optimistic about the future, especially with the presence of new head coach Klint Kubiak and the potential return of fellow tight end Brock Bowers.
