The Houthi military spokesman stated that their strikes targeted military installations at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait in retaliation for Saudi airstrikes. Yemeni government forces reported recapturing positions in Taiz from Houthi fighters and conducted airstrikes that killed at least 10 gunmen. The Houthis seized the capital Sanaa in 2014, leading to a Saudi-led coalition intervention in 2015. The conflict has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, with the UN reporting that 17 million Yemenis struggle to eat, and 93,864 people have been displaced due to the recent fighting.
