Israel Investigates Documentary Film on Gaza for Allegations of Treason and Anti-Semitism

Israeli officials are investigating a new documentary film titled Naza, which alleges that mass civilian deaths were routinely considered in military targeting decisions during the conflict in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the film, calling it 'shocking' and accusing it of contributing to global anti-Semitic sentiments. Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir has initiated a legal probe to identify sources for the film, which reportedly includes military and intelligence personnel who spoke anonymously. Culture Minister Miki Zohar has suggested that treason charges could be pursued against the filmmakers and has requested an investigation into how the film's materials were obtained. The documentary, directed by Israeli journalists Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, recently won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation. In his acceptance speech, Abraham emphasized the importance of acknowledging the actions depicted in the film, stating that denial of such actions allows them to continue. Gaza health authorities report over 73,700 Palestinian deaths, primarily civilians, due to the ongoing conflict.
