White House TV Pool Stops Covering Trump Events Following CNN Ban

Members of the White House television press pool, which covers events by President Donald Trump on a rotating basis, decided on September 21, 2026, to stop covering those events due to the White House's ban on CNN from participating as a member of the five-member pool, according to CNN. The decision by the other four members of the TV press pool—NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, and Fox News—comes as CNN, along with MS NOW and Politico, announced plans to file a lawsuit against Trump to challenge the ban on those three media outlets from the White House. Members of the TV pool rotate in covering Trump's events and share video footage, photos, audio, and quotes with other media members. Bryan Boughton, Fox News' Washington bureau chief and acting chair of the TV pool consortium, stated in a note to pool members that, "Effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the President." He added that there would be no replacement pool in place and that all other pool coverage would continue as normal. The pool members released a joint statement emphasizing the public's interest in receiving accurate and independent information about the government, asserting that no administration should restrict a news organization based on its reporting.
