Comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was hospitalized on Friday after reportedly overdosing on prescription medication. According to TMZ, emergency crews from the Clark County Fire Department in Las Vegas responded to a call about a 61-year-old male who was 'not alert' at approximately 4:20 p.m. Although a City of Las Vegas ambulance was dispatched, Thompson was transported to the hospital by a private ambulance.
His representative, Jami Schlicher, stated on Sunday that Thompson is now awake and breathing on his own, and remains hospitalized under close medical care. Schlicher added that he is surrounded by family and is sharing moments of humor with the medical staff.
Thompson's regular performances at the Luxor Hotel and Casino, which began in 2005, have been affected, with five shows canceled due to his hospitalization.
Prior to the incident, Thompson was reportedly facing extortion over a sex tape, according to court documents obtained by Page Six. His attorney, Ronnie Bitman, alleged that musician Brian Evans threatened to leak an explicit video unless he received $500,000 in immediate payment. Evans denied the allegations, stating that the email was meant to be confidential and that he never threatened to release any video. He claimed the video had been deleted in accordance with a previous settlement.
Evans expressed concern for Thompson's well-being, stating, 'I am sorry that Scott apparently did something to hurt himself. He’s a great talent but these are issues he needs to deal with and move past.' He added that Thompson has a promising future ahead of him.
