One participant reflected on the difficulties of software development, noting that non-technical leaders often underestimate the complexity of the process. He recounted an experience while house hunting, where a contractor advised against renovating an old house, suggesting it would be simpler and cheaper to build a new one from scratch. This analogy was used to illustrate the challenges faced in software development, where projects often become more complicated over time.
The participant emphasized the importance of taking a methodical approach to software development, advocating for careful planning and implementation rather than rushing forward. He noted that good software is built through a process of understanding, planning, and implementing, which can be easily overlooked in fast-paced environments. The Hackathon concluded with the team managing to create a demo-able flow, albeit at a slower pace than their initial work.
