Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Considers 2028 Run for President or Senate

The congresswoman stated in an interview with <a href="https://www2.thedailybeast.com/democratic-star-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-comes-clean-on-2028-ambitions" rel="">The New York Times</a> that she is evaluating her options.</p><p>“Every element of this is something that’s within consideration,” Ocasio-Cortez said.</p><p>She has been mentioned as a potential challenger to New York Senator Chuck Schumer, whose seat is up for reelection in 2028, and has been speculated as a candidate for the presidency.</p><p>According to a July CNN/SSRS survey, Ocasio-Cortez's national favorability rating is approximately 26 percent, with an unfavorable rating of about 36 percent.</p><p>“There’s an argument that some make that this is a very unique political window and, oftentimes in politics, you do only get one shot,” she said. “And you don’t—and just in life in general—life doesn’t wait for you to be ready for things. Sometimes life just makes things ready for you.”</p><p>Ocasio-Cortez also mentioned her identity and its potential impact on her political ambitions. “I’m not naïve to the fact that we are living under a very regressive administration, and I happen to be a woman, and I, you know, happen to be Latina,” she stated. “And I think that there’s a lot of conversation about electability, and I don’t kind of shy away from those realities.”</p><p>She made headlines earlier this year with Instagram posts about her decision to freeze her eggs, which received mixed reactions, including criticism from some Republicans.</p><p>Ocasio-Cortez noted the significance of gender in presidential elections, referencing the losses of Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. “This country has never elected a female president.
