Bodycam Footage Shows Police Officers Pointing Tasers at WNBA Players During March Incident

Bodycam footage has revealed police officers pointing tasers at multiple WNBA players during an incident in March 2026. The event took place outside a club when Dallas Wings player Arike Ogunbowale was accused of punching staff members. As tensions escalated, Ogunbowale and several teammates, including Paige Bueckers, were threatened with tasers, according to Mediaite. Ogunbowale was arrested following the accusation and charged with battery, later being released after posting $1,000 bail. The charges were dismissed in May 2026. The footage, obtained and shared by The New York Post, captures Ogunbowale, Bueckers, and other players, including Jackie Young and DiJonai Carrington, during the incident. At one point, an arresting officer brandished his taser and instructed the crowd to back up. Bueckers, the No. 1 draft pick by the Wings in 2025, attempted to reassure the officer that the group could manage Ogunbowale. The taser was reportedly held near Bueckers' face during the encounter. Ultimately, Ogunbowale was released to the officers. Maria Clifton, a host for Unrivaled, was heard in the video urging the officers not to handcuff Ogunbowale, expressing disbelief at the situation. Mitch Schuster, Ogunbowale's attorney, stated in May that the State Attorney’s Office chose not to pursue any charges. He expressed satisfaction with the decision, highlighting Ogunbowale's character and stating that the dismissal allows her to focus on her professional career.
