Ottawa Senators Owner Discusses Factors Behind Brady Tkachuk's Trade Request

<p>The NHL preseason has begun following a notably eventful offseason.</p><p>A significant development was the Ottawa Senators trading Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers after he requested a trade. Senators owner Michel Andlauer shared his perspective on the reasons behind the trade.</p><p>Tkachuk, who served as the Senators' captain, faced numerous questions regarding his commitment to the organization after the team's first-round playoff exit.</p><p>Andlauer stated, "In his eight years with the Ottawa Senators, and during his time as captain, he was an exemplary captain for us and leader and role model. He cared about the community. He and his wife, Emma, did more than any other player. The Boys and Girls Club — he cared deeply. And the fans knew it. Our fans are loyal and they’re intelligent. And they loved Brady."</p><p>Despite Tkachuk's previous commitment, news emerged that he had requested a trade, leading to his transfer to Florida, where he joined his brother, Matthew.</p><p>Andlauer suggested that familial influences played a role in Tkachuk's decision. He remarked, "Blood is thicker than water, and let’s just say that his father (ex-NHLer and soon-to-be Hall of Famer Keith Tkachuk) and his brother got in his kitchen. Ultimately, the decision was made to go and play with his brother. It’s a decision that was out of our control to a certain degree. But you have to want to play for Ottawa. And right to the end, our fans were behind Brady — even after Team USA won gold. I have no doubt in my mind."</p><p>It is noteworthy that Brady Tkachuk has denied Andlauer's claims regarding the influence of his family on his trade request.</p><p>The Senators will host the Panthers on October 21, which is anticipated to be an interesting matchup.</p>
