John Boyd, founder of the National Black Farmers Association, and Tim Pollock, president of the California Trucking Association, highlighted the challenges faced by farmers and trucking companies due to increased fuel prices.
The diesel price spike is attributed to various factors, including global market disruptions. Bob McNally, founder of Rapidan Energy, explained that the price of diesel is influenced by global events, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and Russia, which has banned diesel exports due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. McNally emphasized that diesel is a crucial fuel for many sectors, including transportation, agriculture, and power generation.
While the president has suggested a potential export ban to alleviate prices, McNally and other experts caution that such measures may only provide temporary relief and could lead to higher prices in the long run.
