Bass has faced various leadership challenges during her term, including labor strikes, the homelessness crisis, and a significant budget shortfall. Raman, who previously supported Bass, has criticized the current administration's handling of the city's issues, particularly homelessness, and has proposed measures to address rent increases for tenants. The primary election is set for June.
