(Sept. 26, 2026 / JNS) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted operations on Friday resulting in the deaths of Ibrahim Fawzi Ismail Mohsen, a platoon commander in Hamas’s Nukhba Force, and another individual identified as Mohammed Kamel Suleiman Mohsen, in Gaza’s Nuseirat and Khan Yunis areas, respectively. The IDF stated that these individuals were involved in attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians and were working to restore Hamas’s capabilities, violating ceasefire agreements.
Earlier on the same day, the IDF reported the killing of two additional Hamas operatives, one of whom, Hassan Mahmoud Siam, was a commander involved in the October 7, 2023, attack and hostage situation in the Gaza Strip. Siam was killed in Gaza City on Wednesday. The IDF noted that he was involved in holding several hostages, including Dafna Elyakim and Keith and Aviva Siegel.
On Thursday, the IDF targeted and killed Adham Sabhi Salim Ziara, another Hamas operative, in the same area. The military stated that these individuals were involved in shooting attacks against IDF troops and planting explosive devices, also in violation of ceasefire terms. The IDF emphasized that measures were taken to minimize civilian harm during these operations, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
In a separate statement, the IDF reported the elimination of two more terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Thursday. One of these individuals, Jabr Moqbel, was identified as a commander who led a money exchange network that funded Hamas operations. The second individual, Hasan al-Batta, was described as a sniper in Hamas’s military wing.
The IDF stated that it has eliminated 16 key Hamas terrorists involved in financial operations, which have reportedly generated over $1 billion for the organization. This includes the deaths of Ibrahim Abu Shamala and Mohammed Abu Alwan, who were responsible for the financial operations of Hamas’s military and political wings, respectively.
The IDF and the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) are focusing on degrading Hamas’s financing capabilities and preventing the restoration of its military infrastructure. They issued a warning to residents of Gaza regarding the risks posed by individuals involved in financing Hamas's activities. The military reiterated its commitment to targeting those who facilitate the financing of Hamas's operations.
Additionally, the IDF reported the elimination of Mahmoud Abd al-Fattah Awad, a Hamas commander involved in holding hostages in a Gaza tunnel during the conflict. Awad was killed in an airstrike in Gaza City and was reportedly planning further attacks against Israeli targets.
