Three people were killed and four more injured in a shooting at a Detroit strip club early Sunday morning.

The shooting occurred at 7:21 a.m., according to Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison, and stemmed from a fight. All victims were in their 20s and 30s; the three deceased were men, and the injured included two men and two women. The wounded were transported to hospitals in private vehicles.

“A fight occurred, an altercation occurred, and as a result individuals decided to settle it with gun violence,” Bettison stated.

The four injured individuals are all in stable condition. The three deceased were alive when police arrived at the scene but quickly succumbed to their injuries.

Bettison noted that the location was familiar to the Detroit Police Department, which had been called to the site seven times in 2026. Police had leads but could not disclose further details.

“This was an after-hours location,” Bettison said. “Imagine a strip club. … I’ll leave it at that.”

Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield commented on the need for community involvement in addressing violence. “It’s heartbreaking and our community should not suffer from this type of violence,” she said.

The strip club was reportedly operating illegally in a residential area. Sheffield expressed her commitment to addressing such operations.

“I will work with the chief to do everything that we can to continue to crack down on illegal after-hour operations, whether there are home resident businesses that are operating these or businesses throughout the city of Detroit,” Sheffield stated. “To ensure that this is not happening in our communities and in our neighborhoods.”
