Attorney for Holdout Juror in Lindsay Clancy Mistrial Responds to Claims of Refusal to Follow Law

<p>The attorney for the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial has responded to claims that his client refused to follow the law. Attorney Edward Paltzik stated in an interview that juror Michael P. Desronvil had no doubt about his decision.</p><p>In a preview of an interview airing on Monday, Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany asked Paltzik whether Desronvil ever had reasonable doubt after the jury foreperson sent a note to the judge accusing him of refusing to follow the law regarding reasonable doubt. Paltzik affirmed, "Michael had zero doubt."</p><p>McEnany then inquired if Desronvil had evidence to support his position, to which Paltzik responded, "A lot of evidence. A mountain of evidence."</p><p>Desronvil was the sole holdout after seven days of deliberations in Clancy’s trial. Eleven jurors were prepared to find the former labor and delivery nurse not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children, while Desronvil maintained his stance for a conviction. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4.</p><p>Clancy admitted to killing her children, aged 5, 3, and 8 months, at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. Her defense argued that postpartum psychosis rendered her not criminally responsible, while prosecutors contended that she understood her actions and planned the killings.</p><p>Desronvil later stated that he believed the physical evidence and witness testimony indicated that Clancy was aware of her actions. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will retry her case. Clancy is scheduled to return to court on September 29.</p>
