Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos, posted a message on social media from prison, where she has been incarcerated for 1,216 days. In her post, she reiterated her claim of innocence, stating, "The truth will set you free." Holmes, 42, is preparing to transition to a halfway house, the Austin Transitional Center, on August 23, 2027.
Holmes' social media account has remained active since her sentencing for wire fraud in November 2022, but this was the first post she signed with her initials, "EAH." She mentioned that her loved ones have managed her account during her imprisonment and expressed gratitude to her supporters.
Holmes is currently held at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan, the same facility where Ghislaine Maxwell is incarcerated. The Federal Bureau of Prisons did not confirm her transfer to the halfway house, citing policy restrictions on discussing individual confinement conditions.
Holmes was convicted in 2022 on four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy, resulting in an 11-year and three-month sentence, with eligibility for release on December 30, 2031. She was ordered to pay $452 million in restitution. Despite her conviction, Holmes maintains her innocence, stating she refused to plead guilty to crimes she did not commit.
Additionally, her final month before imprisonment will be featured in a documentary titled "You Can See Everything," directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, set to release on October 16, 2026.
