A Florida woman, Linda Cutler, has been charged with manslaughter following an incident where her two dogs fatally attacked a neighbor, Jodi Cowan, on May 19. According to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the dogs climbed over a fence and attacked Cowan while she was walking in her neighborhood in Cocoa, Florida. The attack was captured on surveillance video, showing the dogs dragging Cowan across the ground. She suffered severe neck injuries and significant blood loss, leading to her death in the hospital two hours later.
Cowan's partner, Donnell Smith, attempted to intervene using a knife to fend off the dogs while calling 911. He described the scene as traumatic, stating that Cowan had multiple dog bites and was covered in blood. Authorities noted that Cutler had a history of not keeping her dogs contained and that the dogs had previously shown aggression towards other residents. Cutler was arrested on May 27 and is scheduled for arraignment on June 23. The two dogs involved in the attack are set to be euthanized, in accordance with Florida law, which holds dog owners responsible for attacks.
