Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, has expressed criticism towards his party's support for Graham Platner, a candidate facing multiple scandals. Fetterman compared the situation to the support given to former Representative Eric Swalwell, who resigned earlier this year amid serious allegations. Fetterman stated, "I'm saying that the last time Democrats leaned in on a guy that was sending, you know, [these] kinds of messages to women, I think that was like Swalwell, you know," indicating he would not support Platner.
Platner has faced scrutiny since it was revealed he has a Nazi symbol tattooed on his chest, along with explicit texts sent to women while married and controversial online posts. Despite these controversies, many Democrats continue to support Platner as they aim to gain control of the Senate. Fetterman did not call for Platner to withdraw from the race but emphasized the inappropriateness of his actions, stating, "I think you shouldn't send, you know, sexually explicit texts or d--- pics or whatever he sends to all these women on Kik." Fetterman further criticized Platner's comments about military personnel, calling them bizarre and offensive.
