<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Former Secretary of Homeland Security <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/kristi-noem/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kristi Noem</a> filed for divorce from her husband Bryon Noem after 34 years of marriage.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Kristi Noem filed the divorce paperwork on Monday, Sept. 28, in South Dakota’s Hamlin County. The split comes months after she was fired by <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/4483186/trump-frustration-kristi-noem-ad-campaign/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">President Donald Trump</a> from her position at DHS. </p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The two were married in 1992 and had three children. </p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Before taking over the DHS, Kristi Noem was the first female governor of South Dakota from 2019 to 2025. After taking the position in Trump’s Cabinet, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/watch/?vid=2831497" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kristi Noem faced backlash</a> over Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers’ tactics.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Kristi Noem testified that Trump was aware of the ad, but the president publicly disputed the narrative, saying, “I didn’t know about it,” before firing Kristi Noem and replacing her with current Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <em>Washington Examiner</em> has reached out to Kristi Noem for comment, but has not heard back.</p>
