James Carville Critiques Staffers for Complaining About Treatment in Senate Campaign

<p>Democratic strategist James Carville criticized staffers who expressed concerns to The New York Times about their experiences working for former Alaska Representative Mary Peltola during her Senate campaign. The article titled "Angry Outbursts, Slurs and Firings: Tumult Rocks a Key Senate Campaign" detailed comments from former aides regarding a chaotic environment in Peltola's office and campaign as she aims to secure a Senate seat.</p><p>In a video posted on Politicon, Carville addressed the complaints, stating, "It would appear that we have some upset little staffers that she is not — when she's under pressure — not nice to ‘em." He explained that during a political campaign, candidates face immense pressure and may not always be able to maintain a courteous demeanor towards staff.</p><p>Carville remarked, "When I ran campaigns, you didn't have a f---in’ name until you did something," emphasizing that staff should focus on their tasks rather than seeking recognition. He suggested that if someone finds the political environment too challenging, they should consider a different career path.</p><p>He also noted that female candidates often face harsher scrutiny when accused of being unkind to staff, stating, "Why don't we just call every female candidate for everything a goddamn b-----? You'd save time." Carville concluded by urging Democratic staffers to work hard and prioritize the campaign over personal feelings.</p><p>Doug Schoen, a Democratic strategist, acknowledged the intensity of political campaigns but expressed concern over the allegations against Peltola. He stated that while a thick skin is beneficial in politics, inappropriate behavior should not be tolerated.
