Poll Shows Young Democratic Women More Likely to Blame Men for Societal Problems

A recent survey conducted by the Survey Center on American Life indicates that young Democratic women are significantly more likely to attribute societal challenges to men compared to their Republican counterparts. The poll found that 66% of women aged 18 to 29 who identify as Democrats believe that "the challenges that women face in American society" are largely due to men's behavior or actions. In contrast, only 18% of Republican women in the same age group share this view. The survey also revealed that perceptions vary with age; among women aged 30 to 49, 54% of Democratic women and 33% of Republican women blame men for their problems, while among those aged 50 to 64, the figures are 47% and 25%, respectively. The disparities remain significant across all age groups, with young Democratic women blaming men at rates 50 points higher than young Republican women. Conversely, the survey found that Republican men are more likely to blame women for their problems, with 26% of Republican men aged 18 to 29 attributing their issues to women, compared to lower percentages among Democratic men. The poll highlights a growing divide in perspectives between men and women across the political spectrum, a trend that appears to extend beyond the United States. An April survey from the New Statesman corroborated these findings, revealing that 21% of Gen-Z women under 30 hold negative views of the opposite sex, while only 7% of Gen-Z men reported similar sentiments. Additionally, a 2025 survey from the Universities of Göttingen and Jena in Germany found that 47% of left-leaning women prefer to remain single rather than date someone with opposing political views, a sentiment echoed by 41% of right-leaning women.
